Federal Employees Donated Over $100,000 to Support Charities and Over 1,000 Lbs. of Food to Support the Big Bend Area

Tallahassee, FL, December 24, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Big Bend Federal Employees donated $119,434.21 to support local, national, and international charities in the 2010 Big Bend Combined Federal Campaign. In addition to the monetary donations, federal employees also collected 1,089 lbs. of canned food items for America’s Second Harvest of the Big Bend.

“The federal employees in the Big Bend area have been extremely generous this year, especially with the suffering economy. Almost 25% of all federal employees in the area donated to various causes as well as giving 120 hours of volunteer time,” said Perry Laycock, Campaign Chair.

The Combined Federal Campaign is the world’s largest and most successful annual workplace giving campaign. Pledges made by Federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season support eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world. In 2009, the campaign raised over $283 million dollars nationwide. The Big Bend CFC is coordinated by a volunteer board of federal employees and run by Community Health Charities of Florida who serves as the local fiscal agent.
