The North American leg of the tour begins on June 16, 201 in Baltimore, Maryland and ends on August 30th in Anaheim California. Other U.S. stops include Uniondale, New York, East Rutherford, New Jersey and Los Angeles.
Sade is an English artist whose music combines F&B, soul, Jazz, funk and soft rock. The band formed in 1983 and is named after its lead vocalist, British Nigerian Sade Adu. Current band members include Stuart Colin Matthewman, Paul Spencer Denman and Andrew Hale.
The band performed their first US show in May 1983 at Danceteria Club in New York City. Their debut album, Diamond Life, went platinum in the U.K. in 1984. Two years later, Sade won a Grammy for Best New Artist.
Sade’s first U.S. single “Hang on to Your Love” from the Diamond Life album, was released in 1984. A video of “Smooth Operator,, the third single from the album, was nominated for MTV’s Best Female Video and Best New Artist awards. In 1985, Sade performed at Live Aid in London, with an estimated worldwide television audience of 1.4 billion.
Sade’s sixth studio album, “Soldier of Love” was released in 2010 and topped the Billboard 200 chart in its first week with over half a million sales.
