Seventy-Two Animal Rescue Groups Receive Grants from GreaterGood Network
Seattle, WA, December 30, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Seventy-two Petfinder.com Network rescue groups and animal shelters received an extra gift in this holiday season: a grant from GreaterGood Network's Animal Rescue Site. Visitors to the website voted for their favorite groups for thirteen weeks, registering millions of votes to give away $110,000 in grants at the end of December.
“What a wonderful group of winners emerged in the Holiday Shelter+ Challenge,” said Tim Kunin, CEO of The Animal Rescue Site. “There are shelters and rescue groups from every state, as well as Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Canada, and the Grand Bahamas.”
The Animal Rescue Site awards hundreds of grants each year to rescue groups and shelters around the world, funding millions of bowls of food annually as well as other care for animals. Visitors to the website can make a free donation every day by clicking on the large purple button on the homepage (sponsoring advertisers pay for the “click donation,” and 100% of these funds are given to charity).
“By far, the most popular activity on our website, outside of clicking on the purple button, is our annual Shelter Challenge, which lets visitors to the website vote for their local groups,” said Kunin.
Since 2008, The Animal Rescue Site has given $610,000 to rescue groups and shelters enrolled in the Petfinder.com Network through the Challenges offered on the website. A new $300,000 Challenge will be offered in 2011. For more information and a complete list of winners, please see www.TheAnimalRescueSite.com.
