Terry Atamian, President of Atamian Honda & VW Sponsors the Highland Sports Association (HSA)
Terry Atamian, President of Atamian Volkswagen & Honda of Tewksbury, donated $1,750 to sponsor The Highland Sports Association (HSA).
Tewksbury, MA, January 05, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Terry Atamian, President of Atamian Volkswagen & Honda of Tewksbury, MA has donated $1,750 this year to sponsor The Highland Sports Association (HSA). $750 was donated to the 2010 Highland Invitational, which is a youth league baseball tournament played from July 6th through July 31st. The Atamian Family was the first official sponsor of this year's tournament.
Terry Reed Atamian has also long been active in numerous community and charitable activities through the years, including the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Genesis Fund, Cam Neely Foundation and Tewksbury, Falmouth and Lowell youth organizations.
A gift of $1,000 also helped to sponsor individual league teams and the operation of Highland Park's batting cages. The Highland Invitational is in its tenth year and draws over 30 teams from both Lowell and southern New Hampshire-areas.
“The Highland Sports Association has worked for many years to offer kids in their community the opportunity to understand the meaning of teamwork and develop a love for the game of baseball,” said Volkswagen & Honda, Inc. of Tewksbury President Reed Atamian. “We hope that our relationship with the Highland Sports Association will continue to foster and support this wonderful baseball tradition in Lowell.”
The HSA was founded in 1964 as the Lowell Highland Little League. In 2009, the league joined with the Cal Ripken League to become today’s Highland Sports Association. Inclusion in the Cal Ripken League allows the HSA greater opportunity to participate in various tournaments throughout the area.
“Like all non-profit youth sport organizations, The Highland Sports Association faces the yearly challenge of making the games of baseball and softball affordable and fun for all participants. The cost of uniforms, equipment, concession stand needs and field maintenance comes at quite a cost to the league,” said Highland Sports Association President John Skaltsas. “Sponsors such as the Atamian family, who offer generous donations, help lower our fees and help make the league affordable to all who want to play baseball and softball. We're thrilled to have the Atamian family as the first official sponsor of this year’s Highland Invitational!”
The Highland Sports Association provides fields and amenities for children in Lowell to play youth league baseball with programs at each level for tee ball, rookie leagues, minor softball and baseball leagues, junior softball and baseball leagues and senior softball and baseball leagues.
