Austin, TX, January 05, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Join photographers Leon Alesi, Catherine McMillan, Carol Schiraldi, and Tina Weitz on Saturday night, February 12th from 6:30 - 8:30 pm for the artists' reception and exhibition celebrating photography created using iPhone apps. Called "App-aritions" the event will be held at Studio2Gallery located at 1700 South Lamar Boulevard, Ste. 318, Austin, Texas 78704. The exhibition will continue through March 5th. For more information call Studio2Gallery at 512 326-9102 or visit studio2gallery.com.
This exhibit, "App-aritions" celebrates iPhone photography from four well-seasoned photographers who have thousands of hours of technology and expertise behind them, yet came together to explore the boundaries of iPhone photography and making lasting art using only the low-tech cameras found in the iPhone. The work highlights and celebrates the many apps that artists and photographers can use when working with these devices. Ranging from substitutions for long lost Polaroid films, to plastic camera-like applications, through full image editing capabilities, iPhone apps offer something for every photographer. This exhibition is a celebration of the iPhone camera, along with the accompanying apps, has to offer.
Tina Weitz, owner of Studio2Gallery says, "I hear the great debate about how valid an image from such an instant process can be accounted for- and I can resoundingly answer with diptychs and triptychs and tales of my travels and the anticipation I have with each iphone lens safari I make. Simplicity, such as this, brings clarity to my subjects and joy to my artistic heart."
