Hazari Nursing Home Enters Tenth Year of Eye Care

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India, January 06, 2011 --(PR.com)-- On Jan 6th, 2011, the ophthalmology department of Hazari Nursing Home enters the tenth year of service. The hazari Nursing Home was established in 1971 when Dr. N K Hazari and Dr. S N Hazari started it after returning from England. They started with General Surgery, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynecology. Over the next 30 years Hazari Nursing Home has come to represent excellent quality standards in medical care and also availability of new technology and treatments in fileds of General Surgery and Gynecology and Obstetrics.

In 2002, Dr. Ajit Hazari joined Hazari Nursing Home and started the eye department. Dr. Ajit Hazari has done his graduation and post graduation from KEM Hospital, Mumbai. This was followed by a rigorous fellowship of three years at L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad in Comprehensive ophthalmology. Dr. Ajit Hazari has presented papers at national and regional conferences and is also a frequently invited faculty all over the state of Maharashtra, India. He specialises in Glaucoma and Phaco surgery. He is also invited as a trainer in various workshops for skill transfer in the fields of glaucoma care as well as Phaco cataract surgery.

The Eye department at Hazari Nursng Home was started with autmated perimeter, applanation tonometer, yag laser, phaco machine and other equipment required for complete glaucoma and cataract care. This was followed up with pachymeter and then the GDX VCC retinal nerve fibre layer analyser in 2007. In 2009, the Infiniti Phaco Machine with Ozil technology was installed and in 2010, the Zeiss IOL Master was installed.

The Hazari Nursing Home has come to be known as a tertiary care centre for Glaucoma and cataract surgery. It is also the leading centre in the region for Multifocal IOL implantation and TORIC IOL implantation as well as glaucoma surgery.

About 28% of surgeries done at hazari Nursing Home are done under the 'Gift Sight' program in which the treatment is offered at subsidised cost or even free. The 'Gift Sight' program has been operational since 2005 with the suppport of donations from friends, patients and other supporters.
