UseMyServices Invited Back for "Second Pitch" with Dragons Den, Show to Air Jan 12, 2011
Last March, Joseph Iuso and Brian Crozier, co-founders of Toronto-based payment processor, UseMyServices, Inc. stunned the multi-millionaire entrepreneurial stars of CBC’s popular “Dragons’ Den” by turning down their offer of $1 million dollars for 40% of the company - now they return January 12 for a "Second Chance" to make their deal with the Dragons.
Toronto, Canada, January 06, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Last March, Joseph Iuso and Brian Crozier, co-founders of Toronto-based payment processor, UseMyServices, Inc. stunned the multi-millionaire entrepreneurial stars of CBC’s popular “Dragons’ Den” by turning down their offer of $1 million dollars for 40% of the company.
The “Dragons’ Den,” a popular Canadian television show, gives local entrepreneurs a chance to ‘pitch’ their idea against a panel comprised of some of Canada’s most successful business people - all entrepreneurs themselves, known on the show as the “Dragons.”
Given the outcome of their last appearance, an invitation to pitch the Dragons again on an upcoming special episode titled “Second Chance” was definitely an unexpected turn of events.
“Being on the show once was fantastic, but to be invited back was really a big surprise!” said CEO Joseph Iuso. “You don’t turn down an offer like that very often - but it was the right decision for us at the time. We don’t regret it, but we were certainly open to revisiting the opportunity!”
“Obviously, we can’t say anything about the outcome,” indicated Brian Crozier, VP of Global Business Development, “but the Dragons’ Den is always very entertaining, and full of drama. It’s safe to say that this episode is no different! It was another great experience for us!”
UseMyServices was already an unusual subject for the first show, since the company was founded in 2002, and is already well-established within the payment processing industry. But their core product, UseMyFunds, a proprietary technology that lets customer's pay for online purchases directly from the bank accounts in 11 countries seemed to catch the attention of the show's producers, as well as the Dragons, who decided to make the $1 million dollar offer in a very rare unanimous vote. The funding, which would have gone for expansion expenses, was turned down the first time when the Dragons' upped their ownership from the offered 5% to 40%.
The “Second Chance” show, airing January 12, 8pm EST, on CBC, is a special episode that brings back the most popular ‘pitches’ of the season for another chance to make a deal with the Dragons.
