Kim Clijsters takes top honors as the 2010 Player of the Year, while John McEnroe barely edges out Martina Navratilova and Lindsay Davenport for Best USA Television Commentator.
Harrison, AR, January 07, 2011 --(PR.com)-- On the Baseline Tennis News, the largest independently owned professional women’s tennis news web site in the United States, is pleased to announce the winners of the 2010 Baseline Awards presented by reBounces.
On the Baseline Tennis News (www.onthebaseline.com) has partnered with reBounces, the only tennis ball repressurizing and recycling company in the world, as the presenting sponsor of this year’s awards. Since 2007, reBounces (www.rebounces.com) has been a green leader in tennis through its efforts to keep tennis balls in play and out of landfills, while growing the game by making affordable practice balls available to all players.
The 2010 Baseline Award winners were determined by fan voting from around the world at www.Awards.OnTheBaseline.com from December 13th 2010, through January 3rd, 2011. Leading the list of 20 winners is Kim Clijsters, who was voted 2010 Player of the Year. Clijsters won five titles including the Grand Slam singles title at the U.S. Open, as well as the season-ending WTA Tour Championships in Doha.
“Voting was the closest it's ever been with over 2,500 voters, some categories came down to the wire with one vote separating the winner and runner up. We've decide to give honorable mention this year in a few categories that were very close," said Justin Pohn, editor of On the Baseline. "I would like to congratulate Kim and all of this year’s award winners.”
“reBounces would like to congratulate Kim Clijsters on being voted Player of the Year, which was no doubt due to her strong play throughout the year,” said Cannon Fletcher, co-founder of reBounces. “I would also like to congratulate the other talented ladies who won awards. Thank you all for such a great year of tennis and we look forward to the 2011 season.”
reBounces is also happy to announce the winners of this year’s prizes – Becca Skelly, Jeff Sikes and Randy Pang. All three will be receiving a batch of 100 tennis balls that have been rejuvenated through reBounces revolutionary technology that allows tennis balls to regain their original bounce.
