Adon, MA, January 07, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Detective Lou Simansky hoped that his life in Gossett Mills would be peaceful and quiet. Unfortunately, the discovery of two dead bodies dims his expectations. The deceased, Molly Simms and Jethro Clayton, made an unlikely duo—Molly was an elderly eccentric recluse, while Jethro was the town manager. What were these two people doing together, and why were they killed in cold blood? Two rare old coins found on Clayton’s body provide the only clues, setting off a chain of events that will rock the small town to its core. Simansky is assisted in his investigation by his former colleague and criminalist, Rod Hedtler, now a software-company CEO with an eye for the ladies, especially the attractive young town manager pro tem, Erica Bartel.

When Simansky and Hedtler search Jethro Clayton’s computer for possible motives for his murder, they stumble upon a most fascinating document—a letter from a disgruntled Hessian mercenary that essentially provides a treasure map leading to a missing chest of valuable coins. Consequently, when the community learns of this potential windfall more bodies start to turn up and Simansky becomes increasingly bewildered in his attempt to put all the pieces together. Will Simansky find the murderer, or murderers, before more people die? Is there actually a treasure to be found? Will Gossett Mills ever return to its original tranquil milieu?

The Hessian Hoax, published by Dog Ear Publishing, is a fascinating thriller with many surprising twists and turns and characters with real depth. It is Paul F. Jopling’s second novel. Jopling was a writing consultant, writing sales training literature, marketing brochures, and product and system descriptions for large companies such as AT&T Bell Laboratories, MIT’s Instrumentation Laboratory, NEC, and Hewlett Packard Corporation. At Northeastern University, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and an Associate Degree in Electronics Engineering and also fulfilled his undergraduate requirements for a degree in Psychology.
