OnGreen Announces Dr. Mark Bernstein as First Senior Cleantech Advisor
Dr. Mark Bernstein's vast knowledge of Cleantech will solidify OnGreen deals and add a powerful screening process which investors can trust.
Los Angeles, CA, January 07, 2011 --(PR.com)-- OnGreen, the global clearinghouse for Cleantech investment, today gains significant expertise by announcing Dr. Mark Allen Bernstein as the company’s first Senior Cleantech Advisor. In his role as advisor Dr. Bernstein will work to develop a process for evaluating and vetting deals, help develop the community of global experts and work with OnGreen staff on a variety of business development activities with the top green-focused educational institutions, policy groups and government agencies.
Dr. Bernstein is currently Managing Director of the University of Southern California’s Energy Institute and is a Professor of the Practice of Political Science. OnGreen will utilize Bernstein’s extensive knowledge of issues in energy, environment, and water including financing efficiency and renewable energy, climate change policy, and technology diffusion.
"OnGreen will certainly benefit from Mark’s experience in the academic and government sectors," OnGreen CEO Nikhil R. Jain comments. "His vast knowledge of Cleantech will solidify our deals and add a powerful screening process which investors can trust.”
During the 2001 energy crisis in California, Dr. Bernstein advised the Speaker of the California State Assembly. Earlier, he spent two years as the Senior Energy Policy Analyst for the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy in the Executive Office of the President. There, he worked on the Clinton Administration’s climate change technology strategy and helped create a public-private partnership with the housing industry known as the Partnership for Advancing Technologies in Housing.
After following OnGreen’s growth in 2010, Dr. Bernstein is convinced his advisor role will make an impact saying: “The success of OnGreen’s deals rests on our ability to not only provide expert review, but also to provide recommendations on how the technologies could become attractive to potential investors.”
OnGreen continues to build on its 2010 success. More than 300 entrepreneurs from 30+ countries have posted comprehensive funding requests on the site. In a September survey, more than half of the entrepreneurs reported inquiries from potential investors as a result of posting. In November, the company landed its Series A funding from a Chinese investment group. This year, in addition to the deal vetting system, OnGreen’s product road map includes more funding tools for start-ups and expansion to China. The company will look to close Series B funding by the end of 2011.
