Janine Wilson Performs at Goose Creek Live on January 27, 2011
Purcellville, VA, January 10, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Goose Creek Music and Entertainment is proud to present Janine Wilson, a multiple award-winning roots rock group, on Thursday, January 27 at 8pm, at the Franklin Park Performing and Visual Arts Center in Purcellville, VA. Purcellville-based NotaViva Vineyards will also be on hand for the event, pairing delicious wines with the music. The concert features affordable tickets at $12, with special rates of $10 for seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased in advance from www.goosecreekmusic.com or at the box office on the day of show. Audio and video recordings of the concert will be published as a part of the Goose Creek Live TV series.
Wilson’s sultry, bluesy voice is soothing as velvet, but her lyrics and music carry a sassy bittersweet twang. With the reliable support of her band (Max Evans on guitar, Tommy Hannigan laying a steady bass line, Clark Matthews on the drums and Brian Simms on keyboard), Wilson’s performances are a sure hit.
Evans, formerly of Ugly Americans, brings years of songwriting and performing experience to the group. Wilson presents Evans with her lyrics, often inspired by heartbreak, and he composes soulful music to complement them and to showcase Wilson’s smoky voice. Together they have composed several award-winning songs, including "Don't Even Start" and "So Long.”
While she dabbled in poetry in high school, Wilson said she never would have dreamed that her lyrics would bring her so far. Writing music was a natural outgrowth of performing covers and the desire to express her own history. She only recorded covers in her first album, The Blue Album, but while she and Evans were in studio recording her second, Save Me From Myself, he encouraged her to branch out. Waiting for the sound engineer to finish tinkering, she and Evans took a few lines of her lyrics, set them to music, and before long “It Should Be Me” was born. Wilson said it was amazing to see what had once been heartache from an unrequited love turn into the song that won Gold in the Rock / Alternative category in the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest.
Although she performs mainly because it’s what she loves to do, Wilson said, “I want people to enjoy what we're doing and truly hope that they can identify with our songs.”
