Kapp Alloy & Wire Received DEP Grant
Oil City, PA, January 09, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Kapp Alloy & Wire Receives DEP Grant
Kapp Alloy & Wire, a leading solder, spraywire, and Babbitt manufacturer located in Oil City, PA, recently received a $7,500 grant from the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). The grant will help to upgrade the heating and ventilation system in Kapp’s production buildings.
“Our old gas forced air heating system is 75% efficient. The new radiant system is over 95% efficient,” noted Kapp Alloy CEO, Jack Crawford. “The energy and costs savings are substantial, and the payback period for our 50,000 square foot facility will be very short.” This was one of four grants awarded to small businesses in Venango County, and one of over 90 awarded throughout the state by the Pennsylvania Small Business Advantage Grant Program.
Some benefits of the over $500,000 in total funding, include: 1.3 million kilowatt-hours of electricity saved; 110,421 thermal units of natural gas saved; 28,000 gallons of propane saved; 26,000 gallons of kerosene and fuel oil saved; 40,741 gallons of diesel fuel savings; and a reduction in greenhouse gases by nearly five million pounds.
