At CES, Tribair Announced 248,228 Registered Free Hotspots to Make Free and Low Cost Calls Over WiFi

Tribair, a startup based in Montreal, allows individuals and businesses to use existing WiFi networks to reduce their telecommunication costs and make Roaming charges a thing of the past. Tribair offers free high quality VoIP calls and messages between members and low cost calls to non-members. Up to 20% of the revenue from paid calls made over WiFi hubs are paid back by Tribair to the WiFi owner.

Montreal, Canada, January 10, 2011 --(PR.com)-- At CES 2011, Tribair announced it now offers a database of 248,228 free hotspots.

Tribair has created a community of members (companies or individuals) who turn their WiFi into hubs for other members to make calls over WiFi.

Anyone with a smartphone can download the free Tribair application for iPhone, Android or Blackberry. The "app" includes a starter credit of 50 cents, which represents more than 30 minutes of calling to over 50 countries.

Tribair support calls over WiFi and 3G. Calls to other members are free and members can also (and optionally) take advantage of long distance and international low cost VOIP calls to non members at rates that are 45% cheaper than Skype, and this, directly from their smartphones.

Tribair is not just a service provider, it's a sharing community with a global vision. Each member can contribute by opening their WiFi router secured by proprietary technology from Tribair. The application automatically displays Tribair free Wi-Fi networks anywhere in the world. Calls between members are free and don't use airtime, which means further savings on airtime and roaming charges.

“Smartphones are feature rich but the costs of MMS (multimedia messages), roaming or long distance is punishing. We’re here to make communications a rewarding experience, both socially and financially,” said Eric Reiher, CEO of Tribair and serial entrepreneur.

"We are not only offering a free and low cost solution to individuals but are also targeting large businesses and existing communities with a white labeled version of our applications for coffee chains, airlines and airports, travel agencies…" said Jerome Arnaud, co-founder of Tribair.

You can visit the Tribair team at CES at booth 36158, south hall 3-4 in the IT/wireless section.
