BJAC CEO Featured in Woodbury University Architecture Exhibit
Lou Jurkowski Recognized in 13.3%... Exhibit at Los Angeles Exhibit Center.
Raleigh, NC, January 12, 2011 --(PR.com)-- BJAC pa (http://www.bjac.com/), an architectural firm offering professional services for specialized, complex institutional projects, has announced that Lou Jurkowski, FAIA, managing principal, will be featured in Woodbury University’s WUHo exhibit in Los Angeles titled 13.3%... This exhibit recognizes the work of women architects, who represent a low 13.3 percent of the profession. The exhibition will be on display through January 2011.
The juried WUHo exhibition 13.3%… borrows from the conceptual structure of curator Lucy Lippard’s landmark 1973 exhibition highlighting the large amount of work done by similarly low numbers of women in the fine arts, c. 7,500. Each work on display fit into a standard manila envelope. Nearly 40 years later, 13.3%… provides a similar public forum to share the work of today’s practicing female architects. Jurkowski’s entry was a banner comprised of 39 pages interwoven together exhibiting the work of the firm and its 17 women (56 percent of BJAC’s staff), including more than 1,000 projects.
Quotes:
“Woodbury University’s 13.3%... exhibition presented us with an opportunity to demonstrate the extensive accomplishments of BJAC, and highlight its unique and diverse staff,” said Jurkowski. “The exhibit shows that women professionals make significant contributions in architecture. It’s exciting for the work of BJAC to be included in this national forum.”
