ABC11 Recognizes Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with Area Appearances
Eyewitness News Staff Honor Civil Rights Leader in Durham, Raleigh
Raleigh, NC, January 15, 2011 --(PR.com)-- ABC11 Eyewitness News (http://www.abc11.com) has announced four appearances by anchors to commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, which recognizes the birthday of the civil rights leader and activist on Monday, Jan. 17.
Fred Shropshire will join the “Remembering the Journey” panel at the MLK MAN UP Conference at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15 at North Carolina Central University. The MLK MAN UP Conference is designed to bring together the males of NCCU and the Triangle community to share and learn from experiences and build skills that enhance personal development.
Anthony Wilson and Caitlin Coyner both will appear in Durham’s 9th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Parade, presented by the Triangle Cultural Awareness Foundation. The parade begins Saturday, Jan. 15 at noon on Fayetteville Street, from W.G. Pearson Elementary School to North Carolina Central University. The event is free and open to the public.
Wilson also will narrate the Durham Symphony’s Tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. Saturday, Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Durham Armory, located at 220 Foster St. Tickets are $15 and available at http://www.durhamsymphony.org or by calling 491-6576.
John Clark will serve as emcee at the 31st Martin Luther King, Jr. Evening Musical Celebration Monday, Jan. 17 at 5:30 p.m. at Meymandi Hall at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts, located at 2 East South St. in Raleigh. The event, sponsored by the Raleigh/Wake Martin Luther King Celebration Committee, is free and open to the public.
