Lisa Matassa, pioneer of the "Long Island Country" sound is currently a featured artist on the popular music website, ReverbNation.

After reading a local cover story in the Plainview Old Bethpage Herald about this beautiful and talented mother of two who is embarking on a professional recording career in her forties, ReverbNation co-founder Lou Plaia contacted Lisa and told her he felt compelled to support her new project.
Lisa Matassa's ability to seamlessly blend the energy of New York style rock n' roll with new country flavor and soulful emotion results in a unique and heart-stopping sound that Matassa lovingly describes as "Long Island Country." The first part of her self-coined sub-genre of music is a nod to her deeply embedded Long Island roots. “There’s a lot more 'country' in America outside of Nashville,” asserts Matassa.
With her soon-to-be released single “I Don’t Feel Anything” Matassa demonstrates a rare ability to convey raw emotion using her voice, and an uncanny ability to interpret and tell stories through her lyrics. “My music is all about telling a story and making the person listening to the song feel the emotion as though they, themselves, were experiencing it,” explains Lisa.
As far as embarking on a renewed recording career in her forties, having been signed to a recording contract back in the eighties, Lisa explains, “I bring a unique perspective to my music now. Not many mothers with teenagers go back to a recording career later in life. Today you don't have to be 17 years old and a size zero to be a successful artist. Look at Susan Boyle.”
Lisa Matassa’s album, Me Time, will be released March 31st, 2011 independently, through It Is What It Is Records. Tracks will be available for purchase through iTunes, CD Baby, ReverbNation, Amazon and Music Choice.

Twenty-three years ago at age 19, Lisa Matassa snagged a recording contract under the stage name Lysa Lynn, with the independent label Emergency Records which specialized in producing 1980s dance-pop sensations like recording artist Shannon’s dance anthem, “Let The Music Play.” Lisa herself enjoyed some early notoriety with two singles, 1987’s “I’ve Got the Hots For You” and 1988’s “Rock Me Baby.” Both singles got national and international airplay and reached the Top 10 on the Dance Music Charts.
