Phaco Lecture by Dr. Ajit Hazari

Jalna, India, January 19, 2011 --(PR.com)-- A one day symposium was organised at Sri Ganapati Netralaya, Jalna on Sunday, 16th January on 'Cataract and Refractive Surgery'. Dr. Ajit Hazari, specialist phaco and cataract surgeon from Hazari Nursing Home, Aurangabad was invited to give a lecture during the symposium. He spoke on the topic of selecting a phaco machine. During his lecture, Dr. Ajit Hazari spoke about the evolution of ohaco over the last thiry years. He spoke about the history of phaco surgery in relevance to the features available in today's phaco machines. "By understanding how phaco technology has evolved over the last three decades, we can better understand the technology offered to us by the newer phaco machines," said Dr. Hazari. He spoke about the features of longitudinal phaco and the limitations of the technology. He also spoke on OZil or torsional phaco and how it differs from traditional longitudinal phaco. He said that OZiL or the torsional phaco is one of the greatest innovations in phaco technology to have happened in this decade.

"'OZiL' has made cataract surgery safer and more comfortable for the patients despite having advanced cataract or having other risk factors such as small pupils or pseudoexfoliation. It has been of outstanding use to me because of the high risk post trabeculectomy cataracts that i often have to operate on - it has made the surgery in such cases tremendously safer for the patient and stress free for me," said Dr. Ajit Hazari.

The symposium was attended by about 100 ophthalmologists from all over the region of Marathwada and parts of western Vidharba. The lecture by Dr. Hazari was greatly appreciated as the audience got some practical tips and some food for thought on what they should look for selecting a phaco machine.
