The Rite of Spring Street Plays The Flamboyan Theater NYC 1/28-29

Every city block holds the dreams and the nightmares of its restless inhabitants - Roschman Dance presents The Rite of Spring St, a vibrant and athletic evening of contemporary dance that takes us on an exploration of the dreams and nightmares of life in NYC.

New York, NY, January 21, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Roschman Dance is thrilled to present its debut evening length production, The Rite of Spring Street, performing at the Flamboyan Theater on January 28th, and 29th, 2011, at 8:00pm. Roschman Dance, founded by Sean Roschman and co-directed with Katharine Reiner, was created in 2007 with the intent of creating vibrantly athletic contemporary dance.

The Flamboyan Theater at the Clemente Soto Velez Center, located at 107 Suffolk St between Rivington and Delancey streets, is a Dutch Neo-Gothic building constructed in 1898. It is easily accessible by the J, M, F, and Z trains. Tickets are $10.00 and are available at www.smarttix.com, by phone (212) 868-4444.

The Rite of Spring Street is a robust and enthralling journey into the dreamscape and nightmares of life in New York City. With exquisite technique and fearless exploration, the Rite of Spring Street explores the collective experience of urban life; the thrill, the heartache, the danger, the excess. Throughout the piece, original tracks and modern classics score the dance work, giving a soundtrack to the diverse and driving heartbeat of New York City. The piece is highly athletic and visually explosive, and just a little bit dangerous. Performed by Alexandra Mount-Campbell, Allison Beler, Carolyn Barry, Christina Soto, Dannie Flanagan, Jake DuPree, Jenny Chapko, Laura Ashley Winelander, and MaryAnn Peterson, with costumes by Lorelei Ignas.

Founder and co-director Sean Roschman was born in Chicago, IL where he was first introduced to Gymnastics. He began his formal dance training at age 12 in Chicago. Since then he has studied Dance and Directing at NYU, where he received his BFA. He has danced professionally with Damast and Dancers, Linda Diamond and Dancers, The Wallis Knot Performance Group, and Malleable Dance Theater. His work has been presented at the Hudson Guild Theater, The Ailey Citigroup Theater, Marquee Nightclub, The New York Conservatory for the Dramatic Arts, and at New York University.

Co-director Katharine Reiner, a native New Yorker, has been involved with the performing arts since she was a young child. She is a graduate of the University of Southern California School of Theatre and has directed several works, including Heather McDonald's Dream of a Common Language, and Aeschylus' Agamemnon, The Libation Bearers and The Furies (for which she collaborated on a new translation from the ancient Greek with scholar Emily Shearer.) Katharine has also worked with such respected theatre companies as Director's Lab West, Pacific Stages, Resonance Ensemble, Cirque du Soleil, and others.
