The Alliance of Technology and Women Announces 2007 Great Minds Scholarship Program

ATW Invites Women to Compete for Nationwide Scholarships as part of its Great Minds Program. Through this national program, ATW will award scholarships to women pursuing their Associate and Bachelor degrees in programs focused on math, science, computer science, and other technology fields.

Dallas, TX, February 06, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The Alliance of Technology and Women (ATW), a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women in technology, today announced that they will be accepting applications for the Great Minds Scholarship Program. Through this national program, ATW will award scholarships to women pursuing their Associate and Bachelor degrees in programs focused on math, science, computer science, and other technology fields. As part of the national program, each chapter will host scholarships in their communities. As a whole, ATW expects to give away upwards of $20,000 in scholarships this year.

A national committee comprised of ATW board members, National Executive Leadership Team (NXLT) members and chapter presidents will be formed to select the winning applicants based on volunteer service, passion for technology, leadership activities, scholastic grades, letters of recommendation and previous awards, among other criterion. “We feel this program is very important, especially with the limited number of computer science degrees awarded to women. Hopefully this will open opportunities for future female executives in technology fields,” said Bettyjo Bouchey, National President.

The application process will be divided into two parts: The first round will take place online – applications can be found on ATW’s homepage at www.atwinternational.org and will be available through Tuesday, February 27th. Those applicants who are selected to compete in the second round will be notified by their ATW Chapter and will take part in a more rigorous application.

Winning applicants will receive a check to be used towards the cost of tuition, books and supplies. This will allow them to concentrate on their education and stay focused on their studies.
