The Improper Payments Elimination and Recovery Act (I.P.E.R.A.) was signed into Law on July 22, 2010 by President Obama. This aims to reduce wasteful payments to individuals and contractors by $50 billion until 2012. Under the I.P.E.R.A. rules, companies must adhere to a whole host of new standards including monitoring and measuring the performance of annual risk assessments.
