Single Father Struggles, Succeeds in Raising Megan...aka Ouch, Published by Outskirts Press
Broken Arrow, OK, January 22, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Outskirts Press, Inc. has published Raising Megan...aka Ouch by Uncle Dano. The author's most recent book to date is a 6 x 9 paperback in the family and relationships category and is available worldwide on book retailer websites such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble. The webpage at www.outskirtspress.com/uncledanobooks was launched simultaneously with the book's publication.
Raising Megan tells the story of a single father struggling to raise his precious daughter. He shares how his enduring love for her and his stubborn spirit refuses to give up even in the most difficult of situations. There is much to be learned along this journey of life. Their paths separate sometimes for years at a time but, in spite of it all, he chooses to see the irony and humor in life.
He ends up writing several books centered around his precious memories of his daughter and in the end he manages to triumph… “Oh, but wait…” the author says, “I am getting ahead of their story…but then I digress. What me digress? Never. Well there was this one time when… Anyway when Megan was a baby and then a toddler I would always tell her bed time stories. It was always the highlight of my day and hers too, I suspect. I would start out each story the exact same way. “Once upon a time, long, long ago far, far away in a land long since forgotten lived a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful king but this story is not about him…” and then I would go into my story for the night. By the time she was about two she would always “start” the story for daddy. She got really good at it and it always pleased her that she could help her daddy with the story. This “habit” started because sometimes I would pretend that I forgot “our beginning,” as she called it, and then one night she just rambled it off, word for word and exactly the way I said it with the same pauses and voice inflections and everything. It was just so precious and I was just so speechless (and believe me that’s saying something). I remember being completely caught off guard and amazed that such a young little person could learn something like that. It really opened my eyes to how quickly our children learn from us. It made me realize that I had to straighten up some things in my life and pay attention to what I said and did in front of my daughter. It would be the beginning of a wonderful and challenging time in my life.”
“I would like to now share a few of those precious moments with you. So here we go; “Once upon a time long, long ago far, far away……”
