Five Stars Figure Skating Club of Texas Skaters Participated in the City of McKinney/Dr. Pepper Star Center McKinney at Craig Ranch Winter Blast! on Saturday

McKinney, TX, January 25, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Five members of the Stars Figure Skating Club of Texas participated in the City of McKinney/Dr. Pepper Star Center McKinney at Craig Ranch Winter Blast! event on Saturday, January 22nd. The skaters performed in a mini-Expo at the beginning of the free public skate session. Jamie Miller, Claire Miller, Emma Lassiter, and Hope Lassiter skated individual solo numbers and Spenser and Emma Lassiter, a brother/sister pair’s team, closed the Expo out with their number “In the Mood.”

The McKinney Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department are working with the Dr Pepper StarCenter McKinney at Craig Ranch to promote a healthy year in 2011 for all McKinney residents. Winter Blast was this initiative’s inaugural event. Many local businesses and city agencies were in attendance including representatives from the McKinney Police Department, the Michael Johnson Performance Center, Around Town Kids, and more. McKinney’s Mayor, Brian Loughmiller, was on hand to kick off the festivities and even challenged the children present in to beat him in skating a lap around the ice rink.
