New England String Ensemble Announces Finalists for Youth String Competition
Wakefield, MA, February 08, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The New England String Ensemble has named the finalists for its 2007 String Competition. This is the orchestra’s 11th annual search for New England’s best young string musicians. Finalists and winners are selected based on technique, musicality, and expressiveness. Winners will be chosen by a distinguished panel of professional string musicians.
The first place award winner in the open division will perform with the New England String Ensemble in their season finale concerts on Saturday April 14th, 7:30 pm at the Rogers Center for the Arts in North Andover and Sunday April 15th, 3:00 pm at New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall. Also featured on the program are the Dvorak Serenade in E Major, the Berg Lyric Suite and the Bach Suite #2 in B Minor, which will showcase the winner of the NESE flute competition.
The NESE String Competition is available each year to students throughout New England area and is designed to inspire more advanced string students to prepare, audition and compete for a solo appearance with a professional orchestra. The Boston Globe raved of New England String Ensemble's Winter 2007 concert at Jordan Hall: "Here was a complete performance: variety and energy, breadth and flexibility." Growing audiences have come to expect emotionally gripping and innovative performances by the Ensemble. It is this dynamic core of music-making that mobilizes the orchestra's education outreach in many communities.
