Dr. Maya Angelou to be Keynote Speaker at 2011 Iowa Women’s Leadership Conference April 26 & 27

The Iowa Women’s Leadership Conference, now in its fifth year, is dedicated to informing, inspiring, and challenging women leaders. The conference is a grassroots effort, organized entirely by volunteers. Open to everyone, the event was organized to fill an identified void in advanced educational programming targeted toward established female executives, elected officials, academics and other professional women.

Cedar Rapids, IA, January 30, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Internationally known poet, author and civil rights activist Dr. Maya Angelou will be the keynote speaker at the Iowa Women’s Leadership Conference April 26 & 27, 2011 at the Coralville Marriott Hotel & Conference Center.

The two-day conference, first started in 2007, will feature several other internationally, nationally and regionally recognized speakers including former White House press secretaries Dee Dee Myers and Dana Perino; author and commentator Suzy Welch and Sharon Allen, chairman of the board of Deloitte.

“Our goal is to inspire and challenge women of all ages and occupations to advance their leadership knowledge and skills,” said Marsha Schulte, 2011 Iowa Women’s Leadership Conference chair, and Diane Ramsey, executive director of the Iowa Women’s Leadership Conference.

Schulte and Ramsey say they hope to attract 700 current and aspiring leaders from throughout the region to the 2011 conference. Early registration opens Feb. 1, 2011.
