New Children’s Book by David Russell Tells Tale of Silly Sea Serpent; Published by Dog Ear Publishing

Scotland, a land ripe for fairy tales and fanciful thoughts, now is home to another creature from the depths: the Loch Lomond monster, known fondly as Lommie. He has a best friend, Becky, who brings him his favorite lunch – a peanut butter sandwich with honey. They swim to their favorite rock and play in the water for hours. Little do they know someone is about to capture Lommie to perform in a traveling circus. Can Becky and her cousin, Sir Aaron, rescue the sea serpent before it's too late?

Pacific Pallisades, CA, March 05, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Scotland, a land ripe for fairy tales and fanciful thoughts, now is home to another creature from the depths: the Loch Lomond monster, known fondly as Lommie. The Lock Lomond Monster, published by Dog Ear Publishing, was inspired by the author’s granddaughter, who lives eight miles from the loch in Dumbarton, Scotland. She read about Nessie, the Loch Ness monster, and wondered why her loch didn’t have one as well. Now it does. The story’s hero was inspired by the author’s grandson, who pretends he’s a knight. The book’s fast-paced story, paired with whimsical illustrations, provides plenty of thrills for young readers, who can read to themselves or share the fun with a grownup.

Author David Russell and illustrator Frank Furlong first worked together 30 years ago, producing animated television commercials in the United States and Mexico and then producing a series of high school/junior college films for the Office of Education. Russell worked for a special effects company that made commercials and produced effects for television shows such as “Fantasy Island.” Furlong has provided animation for “Sesame Street,” “Bobby’s World” and “Angry Beavers,” as well as for commercials. The retirees have joined forces again to publish children’s picture books. Their first book, “Pop-Pop’s Magic Chair,” is available online and through their site, www.booksbyallmeans.com.
