Birmingham, AL, February 02, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Divine Literary Publishing releases groundbreaking anthology.

Divine Literary Publishing is set to release its inaugural anthology, The Color of Strength, Feb. 5, 2011 at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, located in Birmingham, Alabama. The event will take place at 1 p.m., and is free and open to the public.

The publication is the work of 21 African American authors who share the common goal of presenting our youth with a range of stories, essays, and short autobiographies about the grace, beauty, and strength of their culture. Some of the artists who have contributed to this precedent setting anthology include Sephira Bailey Shuttlesworth, wife of the legendary civil rights leader, Reverend Fred Shuttlesworth, BernNadette Stanis, who played the beautiful, intelligent and articulate “Thelma” on the 1970’s sit com, Good Times, Nevil Shed, one of the five African American college basketball players featured in the Disney movie, Glory Road, Michael Booker, one of the players on the Atlanta Falcons football team that played in the 1999 Super Bowl and Anthony Prior, who for many years held the speed record with the New York Jets, where he played for four years. “As we move into the second decade of the 21st century, it is becoming increasingly important that young Black Americans know their history,” said Prof. Frederick Williams, The Color of Strength managing editor and founder of Black Men United for Reading and Writing. “We can no longer afford to ignore our past. Knowledge of the sacrifices our ancestors made so that we can enjoy more liberties and freedoms than they had, will help us recognize our obligation to do the same for future generations.”

Divine Literary Publishing is the publishing arm of The Divine Literary Tour, which began as a touring group of authors who were members of the nine Black Greek Letter organizations. They eventually added seminars and workshops, and opened the membership to all interested authors. For more information on the tour or The Color of Strength, email divineliterarypublicity@yahoo.com.
