Savant Books Releases David B. Seaburn's New Novel, "Charlie No Face"
Savant Books and Publications LLC, Honolulu, Hawaii, announces the release of David B. Seaburn's newest coming-of-age novel, "Charlie No Face."
Honolulu, HI, February 02, 2011 --(PR.com)-- When eleven-year-old Jackie meets every kid's greatest nightmare, disfigured hermit, Charlie No Face, his life is changed forever. Despite nagging questions about the death of his mother when he was an infant, the summer of 1959 is shaping up as the best vacation of Jackie's short life. He has friends, baseball, his father's unanticipated vacation from work, and the hunt for Charlie No Face to fill his days. But in a few short weeks, Jackie's life is turned upside down. He moves in with a distant relative whose shadowy boarder holds the key to Jackie's past and, perhaps, his future. Who is this man who won't go out in the light of day but who roams the woods at night? Could it be? "Charlie No Face" is a coming-of-age story in which a misunderstood recluse and a young boy redeem each other's lives through a most unlikely friendship.
David B. Seaburn draws from over thirty years experience as a psychotherapist to address some of the most basic human issues: loss, uncertainty, hope, fear, love, joy, seeking, wonder, and more. The author of two previous novels, "Darkness is as Light" and "Pumpkin Hill," He is also a psychologist, marriage and family therapist, as well as an ordained minister. Seaburn and his wife live in Spencerport, New York.
"I am very excited about my third novel, 'Charlie No Face' my first with Savant Books and Publications, says Seaburn. "I enjoyed writing this project more than any other, perhaps because it gave me the opportunity to speak through the voice of Jackie, an 11-year-old. Set in my western Pennsylvania hometown, Ellwood City, it introduces an Arthur "Boo" Radley-esque character, Charlie No Face, loosely based on an actual person from western Pennsylvania. Severely burned as a child, he was not expected to live though he did. Severely deformed, he lived in semi-seclusion all of his life, walking country roads at night and was often the target of thrill-seeking teens. In this novel, I thoroughly humanize Charlie and create a relationship between him and Jackie, one that has connotations that will surprise and transform them both.
"Charlie No Face" by David B. Seaburn - 270 pages - 6" x 9" - Color Softcover. ISBN 978-09845552-8-4. Suggested retail price $16.95. Released January 2011 by Savant Books and Publications, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA.
