Wit and Wisdom “Tell It like It Is, Not like It Ain’t” in Big Mama, Published by Outskirts Press

Educator and administrator, Dr. Gwendolyn Jevita Cheatham, entertains and enlightens readers with her collection of original quotes, reflections, and poetry which proclaim her views of the truth in life in short, pithy moments of true reading pleasure.

Fayetteville, GA, February 03, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Poet and author Dr. Gwendolyn Jevita Cheatham announced today the release of Big Mama, The World Is a Playground – Enjoy It! published by Outskirts Press. Cheatham’s down to earth manner and her always carefully chiseled words combine to make this new collection of uniquely observed truths about life a cherished treasure for thoughtful readers.

A “big mama” is any woman who has positively influenced, has comforted, or has just been there for another person to rely on. Author Cheatham has had many big mamas in her life. With this compilation of insightful lyrics, she evolves into one herself for her many readers.

“It is better to be truthful, and reveal your little short story, than to turn a lie into a novel” reads just one of the author’s short observations of her fellow man. While comfortable as she points out the foibles of man, Cheatham’s overriding attitude is one of respect and love, however.

In fact, Cheatham has a knack for bringing into view the ideal way we should behave when she points out -- with absolutely no malice or “attitude” – our less than ideal moments of behavior, as in “People who will not help their friends, when they are confronted with a crisis, should not come around later to ask how things turned out.”

It’s no surprise that Dr. Cheatham was one of sixteen American educators that Harvard University selected for a grant to study the Latin and Greek lyric. Each of the insights she offers her readers in this compilation has been whittled down to its most concise wording, and it is from the succinct nature of these truths that Big Mama achieves so much of its power and pleasure.

Big Mama is available on-line in paperback through Amazon, Barnes and Noble and at www.outskirtspress.com/bookstore for a maximum trade discount in quantities of ten or more.
