Stanley Gibbons to Ensure Royal Wedding Benefits British Businesses
Rare stamp and autograph dealer, Stanley Gibbons bucks the royal memorabilia trend, ensuring all commemorative goods are produced in UK.
London, United Kingdom, February 03, 2011 --(PR.com)-- With all the recent coverage about the Royal Wedding and the halo effect on the British economy, an interesting wrinkle has started to appear in the news, (including on Radio 4’s ‘Today’ programme) about how one of the prime beneficiaries is actually going to be the Chinese economy, with the majority of Royal Wedding collectibles being produced there. Plates, mugs, general memorabilia and even the recently sanctioned tea towels are all to be manufactured in factories from Shenzen to Shanghai.
Royal Warrant holder Stanley Gibbons is proud to buck this trend by ensuring that the production of its Royal Wedding memorabilia remains firmly on British soil and with British businesses. For starters, its popular First Day Covers are conceived, designed and created in-house in Folkestone at the offices of its recently-acquired subsidiary, Benham Covers, while the fine, leather-bound albums being specially produced for the event, will also be crafted in the UK.
The company is also in talks with a British manufacturer about the production of a range of commemorative ceramics to be sold through their flagship store at 399 Strand.
Speaking on behalf of the Stanley Gibbons Group, Sales and Marketing Director, Keith Heddle said, “Whilst we are proud to trade internationally, including increasingly in China and the other Tiger economies, we are proud to fly the flag for British production for this momentous and very British event.”
