Building Envelope Science Institute Contacted Government Agencies Regarding Defective Drywall Inspection and Remediation Methods
The Building Envelope Science Institute has lead the way for inspection & remediation of structures with Defective Drywall by introducing one of the first protocols and providing solutions for Defective Drywall. The Institute reached out to government agencies after finding solutions for inspecting and remediating structures contaminated by defective drywall.
Gainesville, FL, February 04, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Building Envelope Science Institute (BESI) has lead the way for inspection & remediation of structures with Defective Drywall over the past year by introducing one of the first protocols and providing solutions to the Defective Drywall crisis. BESI provides the most comprehensive training in inspection and remediation processes developed.
After being involved for several months in investigating and testing defective drywall, the Institute reached out to the government in 2009, contacting senators and various agencies including the Florida Task Force on Chinese Drywall regarding the inspection and remediation of structures with defective (Chinese and domestic) drywall; the institute provided reports and documentation that would deliver quick results which are proven through science and field tests to work.
Homeowners, who believe they have been affected by Chinese drywall, held a rally outside the US Senate building and met with Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) officials about their concerns at the end of last year. The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center says, "toxic Chinese drywall is not just in Florida, or the US Southeast--it's a national disaster, and after being in office for 24+ months it's time for the Obama Administration to show up. We are not going to back down. It's time for US Federal Government to take charge of this disaster--these homeowners have kids, and this is the United States, not a Banana Republic."
According to the latest release (January 31, 2011) from the CPSC, they are in the final stages of completing its investigation into the defective drywall issue and has requested that the CDC considers performing a comprehensive study into any possible long-term health effects as a result of defective (Chinese or domestic) drywall. The question remains, “How long before there is some type of financial help for those owners who have borne the burden and stigma of having a home with defective drywall?”
The institute has been certifying qualified candidates for inspection and remediation of structures with defective drywall since October 2009. Those that have earned a designation as a remediator or consultant through the institute have attended a two-day course with a written final exam; inspectors attend a one-day course with a written final exam; and there are prerequisites such as years of experience and being in good standing with the state if they are licensed (required for those performing remediation).
The next course date for Defective Drywall Certification is February 10-11, 2011 at the Hilton Garden Inn Tampa Ybor Historic District in Tampa, Florida. Additionally, the Defective Drywall Certification course is approved by ACAC for 16 hours of re-certification credit (RCs) under registration number 10092301 on the ACAC website (www.acac.org).
