Georgetown University Hospital Joins the Casey Cares Kami's Jammies Program

Washington, DC, February 08, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The Casey Cares Foundation has recently announced that Georgetown University Hospital in Washington DC joined their Kami’s Jammies Program. The hospital will initially receive 50 pairs of new pajamas for their pediatric patients on extended stays. In addition, beginning March 9th a themed pajama party will take place every other month in the pediatric department and be hosted through the Kami’s Jammies Program. The Casey Cares Foundation provides uplifting programs with a special touch to critically ill children and their families throughout the Mid-Atlantic area. One of six programs, Kami’s Jammies presents new sleepwear and themed pajama parties to pediatric patients during their extended hospital stays in order to help brighten their days and make hospital stays more comfortable.

Families at Georgetown Hospital will also receive a Casey Cares Comfort Kit which includes medical supplies, a thermometer, hand sanitizer, journal, camera, information about their illness and other resources.

Kami’s Jammies was inspired in memory of Kamryn, a Casey Cares child who bravely battled leukemia, and who felt special when she would get a new pair of pajamas to wear in place of the hospital gowns during her frequent overnight stays at the hospital. Currently, 20 hospitals receive new pajamas through the Kami’s Jammies Program.

“Pajamas can make a huge difference in a chronically hospitalized child's life. Wearing fun pajamas rather than the hospital gowns makes kids feel more normal,” explained Linda Kim, Child Life Specialist at Georgetown University Hospital. “We are so happy to be working with the Casey Cares Foundation.”
