Jeff Brannen Named Chief Legal Counsel for Charter Builders and SpawMaxwell
Dallas, TX, February 07, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Balfour Beatty Construction has appointed Jeff Brannen senior vice president and chief legal counsel for two of its Texas divisions, Charter Builders and SpawMaxwell. In this role, Brannen will support the divisions’ legal needs, including those related to construction contracts, claims, and negotiations.

Brannen has more than 17 years of experience working for law firms specializing in the construction industry. During his career, he has negotiated and closed more than $1 billion in construction contracts and has successfully prosecuted claims on behalf of owners, general contractors, and subcontractors in areas of contract disputes.
Before joining Balfour Beatty Construction, Brannen held positions at Canterbury, Elder, Gooch, Surratt, Shapiro, and Stein and for McGuire, Craddock, and Strother. He received both his law degree and his undergraduate degree from Baylor University and is a member of the State Bar of Texas. Brannen was the founding chairman of the Young Lawyers Committee of the Construction Law Section of the State Bar of Texas and is vice-chairman of the Construction Law Section of the Dallas Bar Association.
Brannen has been a frequent speaker on construction law and has written legal articles for various newsletters and journals, including Infrastructure, Texas Construction Law Journal, and the Dallas Bar Association’s Headnotes.
Committed to his community, Brannen served, pro bono, for fifteen years as outside general counsel to PediPlace, Inc., a non-profit pediatric clinic, has since joined their board of directors, and is currently serving as its vice president. He also assisted The Teen Center, Inc., a drug-free and alcohol-free environment for teens, as its pro bono outside general counsel.
