Multiple Surgeries Inspire Innovation and New Local Business
Natick, MA, February 09, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Multiple orthopedic and foot surgeries left Kelly Marchetti, founder of re:covers LLC (http://www.myrecovers.com), wearing an unappealing and cumbersome walking boot, also known as an orthopedic walking brace. Today, Marchetti has turned that experience into a new business venture: a walking boot cover company. The walking boot covers are designed to protect the orthopedic/orthotic boot from wear and tear, all while allowing the patient to resume daily activities in a more comfortable and stylish manner.
According to Marchetti, “The idea started after I underwent a series of surgeries which left me wearing a very unattractive walking brace, and I wanted something that would help alleviate the many challenges I encountered during my own recovery process.” She goes on to state that, “the physical aspect of healing was stressful enough, but the unattractive walking boot made things worse, so I was inspired to come up with an idea of covering the brace with something that was stylish, functional, and easy to put on and off—a year and a half year later, I’m thrilled to be making walking boot covers available for everyone, and the feedback has been tremendous. I’ve already designed arm and leg cast covers that I’ll be introducing this year!”
The company recently launched its website and introduced a number of stock and custom walking boot covers designed for kids, men, women and even toddlers. re:covers has made custom walking boot covers that have been worn by two Red Sox players. Featuring an original design, re:covers is the only walking boot cover that conceals the complete chassis of the walking boot (all but the bottom tread) without impairing the function of the orthopedic brace. The covers are designed to fit all major walking boot manufacturers. re:covers are easy to use, washable and made in the U.S.A.
