The NC Center for Women in Public Service Announces Women in Office Institute Call for Applications
Eighth Annual Leadership Program Prepares Women to Seek Elected or Appointed Office
Raleigh, NC, February 10, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The NC Center for Women in Public Service (NCCWPS) (http://www.nccwps.org), a nonpartisan organization that prepares women for elected and appointed offices statewide, has announced that applications are now being accepted for the eighth annual Women In Office Institute. The leadership program is an interactive, skills-and-confidence-building program for North Carolina women to hone their leadership skills, prepare for political campaigning, and develop tools for effective and ethical public service. Women of all backgrounds, interests and political affiliations are encouraged to apply before the deadline on Friday, April 1. The Institute will be held over two extended weekends, Thursday June 23 through Sunday June 26, and Thursday July 21 through Saturday July 23. Both sessions will be held on Peace College’s campus at 15 East Peace St. in downtown Raleigh.

- Session topics include, but are not limited to: Introduction to the Political Process, You as a Leader, Applying Your Leadership Attributes, Pathways to Public Service, and Campaigning.
- Fifteen to twenty participants will be selected, and they will need to reside on campus during both sessions. Limited tuition assistance and scholarship opportunities are available for qualified participants. - The Institute faculty will include David McLennan, Ph.D. and Heather Lee, Ph.D., SPHR, both of Peace College, who were instrumental in creating the Women in Office curriculum and will also feature campaign and media experts, elected and appointed officials from around North Carolina.
