Simon’s Shine Shop and Dr. Beasley's Announce Their First Dirty Car Contest
First Place Winner’s Prize Package Valued at $1000
Chicago, IL, February 10, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Simon’s Shine Shop, the award winning hand car wash and detailing center, announces its first-ever Dirty Car Contest. In search of Chicagoland’s dirtiest, most filthy car (both inside and out), Jim Lafeber, founder of Simon’s Shine Shop, vows to make the winner’s vehicle look like new.
“We all know that it’s a major challenge to keep a car clean in the winter,” says Lafeber, who opened Simon’s Shine Shop six years ago with his wife Nikki, and named it after their beloved dog, an Alaskan Malamute named Simon. “Between the caked on salt, the residue from melting snow, ice and dirt; and the wet, muddy car mats, our cars take a beating during the winter months,” he adds. “I’m sure we won’t have any problem finding the winners of our dirty car contest!”
The Dirty Car Contest runs through February 25th, with the winners announced on February 28th. Those interested in entering the contest are invited to submit photos of their dirty car along with some basic information about why they should win and how their cars got so dirty. The Dirty Car Contest coincides with the launch of Lafeber’s new e-commerce business, Dr. Beasley’s (which was named for his second Alaskan Malamute, Beasley). Dr. Beasley’s offers a complete line of “prescription strength” car care products which were formulated by Jim after years of scientific research, case studies, and test after test on his own cars and the cars of his friends. The products he had been using at Simon’s Shine Shop - before creating Dr. Beasley’s - were not meeting his standards of excellence and he knew he could do better by developing his own.
“I’ve been detailing cars since I was a kid,” says Jim, who bought his first car at the age of 14, a beat-up 1968 Volkswagen Beetle, which he completely restored. “I know when a product is not up to par, and I also know that there is an art - a process - to cleaning the car so it not only looks great, but it is protected from the elements,” he adds. “Dr. Beasley’s provides both… products that work and a scientifically proven method to car care that ensures the longevity of the vehicle inside and out,” he says. “We’ll be using Dr. Beasley’s products to clean all the cars that win our Dirty Car Contest.”
After Jim and his staff review the entries, eight winners will be chosen to win the following prizes.
1st Place Winner - $1000 Prize Package
The 1st place winner will receive the Concours Showroom Shine, a complete detail service which will take place at Simon’s Shine Shop using Dr. Beasley’s car care products. The winner will also receive Dr. Beasley’s First Aid Kit and Dr. Beasley’s Formula 1201 Paint Sealant to use at home.
2nd Place Winner - $300 Prize Package
The 2nd Place winner will receive Dr. Beasley’s Deep Shine Detailing Prescription, Dr. Beasley’s Premium Car Wash Prescription and Dr. Beasley’s Formula 1201 Paint Sealant, all of which can be used at home, Plus an Exterior Shine at Simon’s Shine Shop.
3rd Place Winner - $150 Prize Package
The 3rd Place winner will receive Dr. Beasley’s Premium Car Wash Prescription and Dr. Beasley’s Formula 1201 Paint Sealant, both of which can be used at home. PLUS an Exterior Shine at Simon’s Shine Shop.
Five honorable mentions will also be awarded, and the winners will each receive an Exterior Shine at Simon’s Shine Shop (up to a $30 value, depending on the size of the vehicle).
