North Carolina Travel Industry Association (NCTIA) Hires New Lobbyist
Member-based advocacy group for NC travel industry welcomes experienced lobbyist Lu-Ann Perryman as legislative advocate.
Charlotte, NC, February 10, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The North Carolina Travel Industry Association (NCTIA), whose long history of active involvement in public affairs includes a strong voice in lobbying efforts to protect and benefit North Carolina 's tourism industries, has hired Lu-Ann Perryman of DLC & Associates, Inc., as its new lobbyist. She replaces outgoing lobbyist Connie Wilson.
"It was an honor to serve as the organization's lobbyist for five years,” said Wilson. “We promoted a tourism agenda that helped North Carolina. The members of the NCTIA have become my friends, and I look forward to running into everyone at the Legislative Building on Tourism Day."
Perryman brings 13 years of successful lobbying experience for clients across North Carolina and the nation to NCTIA and its members. She is a Charter Member of the N.C. Professional Lobbyist Association and currently serves on the board and as Event Committee Co-chair for the organization.
“NCTIA is excited about its new contract with Lu-Ann Perryman as tourism lobbyist,” said Kim Hufham, President/CEO of the Wilmington/Cape Fear Coast Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Lu-Ann comes highly recommended and is enthusiastic to get started on the issues that affect our industry.”
Issues of interest to the NCTIA include tourism marketing efforts and legislation that defines and affects the hotel/motel occupancy tax and the school calendar law.
“I’m really looking forward to helping NCTIA further its agenda and protect the North Carolina tourism industry,” Perryman said. “As well as work hard to keep members apprised of important and significant legislative issues and positions.”
Vince Chelena, NCTIA Executive Director, welcomes Perryman’s hiring as part of the organization’s aggressive approach to promote and protect the interests of its members, primarily local businesses and statewide organizations that thrive on the tourism economy.
“It’s an opportunity for NCTIA to continue thinking out of the box and maintain a fresh perspective to address the issues and interests of the NCTIA and its members,” said Chelena. “We’re thrilled that Lu-Ann is joining us in our efforts to advocate our industry, one that generates significant economic benefits for local residents, businesses and governments.”
