DirectRooms.com – Championship Swimmers Take to the Water in Brisbane

Brisbane, United Kingdom, February 11, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The 2011 Brisbane Senior Metropolitan Championships will feature a series of races covering a mixture of distances and strokes for swimmers of all ages. The heats will take place from 11th to 13th March 2011 and include races for butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle with most races either 100m or 200m. Contestants will compete depending on their age group with each category split by year from 13 year olds up to 17 years of age as well as both men’s and women’s categories.

Attendees going to watch the sessions will need to get there early with some starting at 07:30 on the Saturday and Sunday. The fastest swimmers in each heat will enter the finals where competitors finishing in the top three will all receive winner’s medals. Contestants can also look out for special awards including the Bill Willis Trophy which is given to the swimmer who finishes closest to achieving an Australian Open Record.

The event is being organised by the Brisbane Swimmers Association (BSA) and competitors and spectators will be looking for Brisbane hotels closest to the Brisbane Aquatic Centre where the swims take place.
