2011 IEEE Online Conference on Green Communications to be Held September 26 – 29, 2011
IEEE ComSoc Emphasizes Need to Reduce Global Greenhouse Gas Emissions by Hosting Three-Day Event on Energy-efficient Communications & Green Technologies Totally Online
New York, NY, February 11, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), the leading worldwide professional organization dedicated to the advancement of communications technologies, will emphasize the ongoing need to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by hosting the first annual IEEE Online Conference on Green Communications (GreenCom) totally online from September 26 – 29, 2011. Dedicated to the latest advances in energy-efficient communications and green technologies, IEEE GreenCom’11 will enable attendees from around the world to engage in discussions on the newest networking, energy management and smart grid communications solutions without travel and from the comfort of their own home and/or work environments.
Webcast to international attendees by IEEE ComSoc and then published at IEEE Xplore, IEEE GreenCom’11 was specifically designed to address global warming developments and its societal impact in an alternative, ecological conferencing model that reaches broader audiences, offers time-flexible participation and provides near-physical experiences in a powerful, virtual forum where “energy efficiency is discussed energy-efficiently.” Other distinct features include the ability of speakers to present research live and then answer audience questions with the aid of moderators.
For more information on IEEE GreenCom’11, including “Call for Paper” details, interested researchers, academics and industry experts are urged to visit http://www.ieee-greencom.org.
With a deadline of March 20, 2011, the conference’s peer-review board is currently accepting paper submissions on a wide range of topics covering energy-efficient fixed and wireless communications and networking, communications technologies for green solutions, and smart grid communications. Specific topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Energy-efficient protocols, extensions, transmission and networking technologies
• Energy-efficient communications management
• Energy-efficiency in mobile, home, sensor, and vehicular networks, and in data centers
• Green communication architectures and frameworks
• Solutions for energy-efficient transport, logistics, industries, and buildings
• Communication networks for Smart Grids and smart metering
In addition, anyone interested in networking with colleagues or other attendees via Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn as well as receiving conference updates should visit http://www.ieee-greencom.org on a regular basis or contact Heather Ann Sweeney of the IEEE Communications Society at 212-705-8938 or h.sweeney@comsoc.org.
IEEE GreenCom’11 is hosted by the IEEE Communications Society, which has over 40,000 members and is the second largest of IEEE’s 38 technical societies. Founded in 1952, IEEE ComSoc is recognized as a major international forum for the exchange of ideas on communications and information networking. The society is also an international sponsor of global publications, conferences, certification and educational programs, local activities, technical committees and standardization projects.
