Transaction Adds Major European Publisher to Its Distribution Group

Piscataway, NJ, February 12, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Effective February 1, 2011, Transaction Publishers will distribute books published by The Netherlands Institute for Social Research in all parts of the world except The Netherlands and Belgium.

Founded in 1973, The Netherlands Institute for Social Research has supplied information and on the daily lives of the Dutch population; work, income, health, education, social security, housing, culture, how they spend their time, and their opinions on a whole range of subjects. The focus is on how government policy does or could influence these aspects of life. The Institute was founded to ensure that policy decisions are based on sound scientific knowledge. Various government departments in the Netherlands are involved in formulating the Institute’s research program, and more than one hundred social scientists are employed in the Institute’s work.

Prior to 2011, the Institute’s books were distributed in North and South America by Transaction Publishers via Aksant Academic Publishers of the Netherlands. Transaction distributed Aksant in North America and South America until January 2011. During 2010, Aksant was acquired by Amsterdam University Press, which is distributed in North America by the University of Chicago Press. At that time, the Institute solicited Transaction’s interest in working directly with the Institute.
