N. Elaine Blevins Named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Behavior Management Education
N. Elaine Blevins Special Educator, Parkland Elementary School, has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Behavior Management Education.

Elaine has played an integral part in the special education program of Yukon, Oklahoma Public Schools for the past 15 years. She has been building her repertoire of exceptional skills in the area of functional special education for students with moderate, severe, and profound disabilities for over 21 years. Her expertise in teaching functional life skills and using a wide array of behavior modification and assistive technology techniques is recognized throughout Oklahoma by peers, professionals, and parents.
Locally, Elaine mentors peers new to the field of functional special education. Additionally, she trains colleagues in Red Cross CPR and First Aid, Creating a Positive Environment (C.A.P.E.), and adaptive software. Elaine has also been instrumental in implementing the Oklahoma Alternate Assessment Program, serving as a pilot teacher, scorer, and team leader.
Elaine was recognized for outstanding service to her profession and her community as a 2006 recipient of the Woman of the Year Award from Redlands Chapter of the American Association of University Women. She actively supports her local and chapters of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International for key women educators.
Prior to her commitment to the field of Developmental Disabilities, Elaine honed her writing, observation, and people skills in the fields of news reporting and public relations. Elaine studied journalism and radio/television speech for her Bachelor of Arts degree from Central State University. She earned a Master of Science in Education—Special Education/Mental Retardation and Emotionally Disturbed from the University of Central Oklahoma.
Elaine has supplemented her special education knowledge base through the Oklahoma Department of Education Special Education Services Registry trainings in Autism, Other Health Impaired, and Multiple Disabilities. She further expanded her expertise through Oklahoma Assistive Technology Center Training, achieving Level 2 Assistive Technology Assessment Team certification. She also earned Level 2 Certification in computer technology from Oklahoma Department of Education.
A native Oklahoman transplanted briefly during the 1970’s to the American Southwest, Elaine still considers this colorful land of haunting beauty one of her favorite vacation destinations. Elaine reads, gardens, and works on crafts to relax. She keeps abreast of developments in her profession by reading Exceptional Child and the Delta Kappa Gamma Bulletin. Elaine considers her greatest achievement to be her two beautiful daughters, one an elementary educator and one a registered nurse.
