New York, NY, February 17, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The New York City-based S.L.E. Lupus Foundation and its West Coast division, Lupus LA, will present a free, 1-hour webinar with lupus expert Robin Dibner, MD, of Manhattan’s Lenox Hill Hospital on Wednesday, February 23rd.

"Tools for Managing Your Lupus" -- the first in a series of informational lupus webinars -- offers advice on:
- coping with lupus in mind and body
- preventing lupus flares and infection
- drugs and supplements to avoid
- healthy habits for feeling well in spite of lupus

Dr. Dibner also will discuss the importance of the doctor-patient partnership and the need for support of friends and family, along with other key advice from the book she co-authored with Carol Colman, “The Lupus Handbook for Women.”

The one-hour event begins at 12:30PM Eastern Standard Time. Users must pre-register at https://lupusny.peachnewmedia.com/store/seminar/seminar.php?seminar=6907 to receive the official information and log-in link. There free program is open to users worldwide.

About Lupus

Lupus is a chronic complex and potentially fatal autoimmune disease that affects more than 1.5-million Americans, mostly young women in their child-bearing years. Lupus causes the immune system to become hyperactive, forming antibodies that attack and damage the body’s own tissues and vital organs including the heart, brain, kidneys and lungs. Lupus is a leading cause of cardiovascular disease, kidney disease and stroke among young women. As yet, there is no known cause or cure for lupus, but the progress of recent discoveries is highly promising.
