3 on 3 Basketball Tournament Coming to the Streets of Sacramento June 10 - 11, 2011

RoundRock 3on3 has partnered with the cities of Downtown, Midtown and Old Sacramento to host their first annual three on three outdoor basketball festival.

Sacramento, CA, February 18, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Rocklin based RoundRock 3on3 will be hosting their first annual 3 on 3 basketball tournament on the city streets of Sacramento June 10 – 11, 2011. During this event The City of Sacramento will be blocking off over 40 city blocks in Downtown, Midtown and Old Sacramento.

“Our goal is to deliver an unparalleled weekend of the best basketball, food and entertainment our region has to offer. Not only is this an exciting way to kick off the summer for kids and families, this event will raise needed funds for local charities and schools while showcasing our community’s sportsmanship and spirit of volunteerism. From The Downtown Sacramento Partnership, to local businesses and schools, everyone is excited about the positive economic impact this event will have on our community now and in the future,” says John Wardlaw, CEO of RoundRock 3on3.

The Event
RoundRock 3on3 will feature players and teams from throughout Northern California. Once registered, teams will be organized into divisions based on age and ability. The designated streets will be sectioned off and organized into a series of half-courts, where the various divisions will play their games.

“This is a basketball tournament for players of all skill levels, from 3rd grade to 100 years old: It doesn’t matter if you play every day, or if you haven’t played in 30 years! We really want this to be an event the whole family can come enjoy as we highlight not only basketball, but also the great museums, restaurants, parks, and places to see in Downtown and Old Sacramento. There will be plenty to do for kids of all ages, kind of like a ‘state fair’ for basketball. We hope to bring the whole community together for fun, friendly competition, and to give back to those who need it most,” says Joe Morrell, Chief Operating Officer.

Helping Local Schools
Schools can raise money via this event by contacting RoundRock and completing a fund-raising agreement. (For every team that signs up under a participating school, RoundRock will donate 25% of the registration fee back to that school). Team registration is now open on the RoundRock3on3.com website.

Supporting The Community
RoundRock has identified Shriners Hospital for Children as a primary beneficiary of this event with additional charities to be named. During RoundRock weekend, Capitol Mall will be named “Charity Drive” and will feature other charities and groups hosting basketball-related contests to raise funds for their organizations. In addition to benefiting local charities, RoundRock’s mission is to identify several areas of continuing need such as park rehabilitation, constructing and building basketball courts for youth activities, and assisting basketball leagues and sports organizations that promote health and activity among the area’s youth.

KCRA 3 and My58 are the key media sponsors for this event. “We are very excited to have the support of KCRA and KQCA. Their contributions in spreading awareness of this event will play a major role in bringing the community together this year. We are grateful to be working with them and look forward to building a lasting relationship,” says Mr. Wardlaw.
