The award was presented at the Stars of the Industry Award Luncheon on February 28, 2011. Nominees are judged on industry involvement beyond their normal exceptional service and quality, and on their history of working to advance the hospitality industry’s reputation and business expertise.

South Carolina Hospitality Association has its roots date back to 1947, the South Carolina Hospitality Association was founded in 1993 when the South Carolina Hotel & Motel Association and the South Carolina Restaurant Association united under the common umbrella of the South Carolina Hospitality Association. The mission is to promote, protect and educate the foodservice and lodging industries of the state and to ensure positive business growth for our members. HASC strives to represent the best interest of its members on small business issues, hospitality and tourism concerns and towards the protection of South Carolina's quality of life.
