Sports Clinical Specialist Coming to Dublin, CA

Elite Sports Physical Therapy (ESPT) set to open doors to their second physical therapy facility in Dublin, CA in early March.

Dublin, CA, February 24, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Elite Sports Physical Therapy (ESPT) is excited to announce that it will be opening doors to a new facility in Dublin, CA in early March. Partnering with Velocity Sports Performance, ESPT will continue it's vision of providing top-notch sports and orthopedic rehabilitation to the general public.

By expanding into the Tri-Valley, more of the East Bay will now have access to one of the few physical therapists in the Bay Area board Certified as a Sports Clinical Specialist. Board Certification through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties is only granted to physical therapists once they have passed an exam showing that they are more proficient in a certain subject matter when compared to their peers. There are only a handful of these Sports Clinical Specialists in the Bay Area, and Jacon C. Chun, MPT, SCS, ATC, CSCS, Director of Physical Therapy for ESPT is one of them.

"It's natural for most physical therapists to say they treat sports injuries and practice sports medicine, because both are tied together very closely," says Jacon, "but there is a big difference between regular PT and sports PT. When treating athletes, not only does the therapist have to take into account the constraints of the healing tissue, they have to understand the sport and think about the strict recovery timeline some of these athletes have."

"Without proper education in how to be more aggressive with protocols and treatment plans and without an understanding of sports, most PT's may find difficulty meeting the strict plans of the athlete," states Chun.

At ESPT's Dublin facility, physical therapist Charissa L. Chaban is also an athletic trainer and professional ballet dancer. As such, she understands the rigors involved in competition and performance, and will help design a treatment program specific to each person's needs.

Even if you aren't an athlete, you can come get physical therapy treatment at ESPT. The goal of Elite Sports Physical Therapy is to make sure that everyone knows what it feels like to be treated like a professional, whether or not you are one.
