MyUlist.org Creates Free National Online Center for College Students

Inspired by crowded campus bulletin board, new site gives students an online portal for discussions, commerce, info, and entertainment tailored to their college or university.

Silicon Valley, CA, February 15, 2007 --(PR.com)-- MyUlist.org is a massive new online center designed especially for college students. A separate portal for virtually every college in the United States features opportunities for students to put up an online flyer, discuss "the buzz" on their campus, buy textbooks, look for housing and more.

MyUList.org founder DaveU got the idea for the site after placing flyers around the campus of Stanford University. "I put up more than 100 flyers advertising part-time jobs that paid great. I waited and didn't get a single call. Later when I checked back, all my flyers had been immediately covered by other people putting up their flyers," DaveU said.

Taking his cue from successes like Craigslist, DaveU set out to create a community portal tailored exclusively for college students. But unlike previous attempts, MyUlist.org is visually exciting with each college getting its own specific area and URL.

The focus of MyUlist.org are “Green” flyers students post on the site. Online flyers don’t use paper, save time, and are never buried by other flyers. "And you can put a lot of information on the flyers including pictures, URL links, facebook profiles and more. Other users can leave comments on flyers, save flyers for future reference and search flyers in your school or all schools," DaveU said.

Another very popular feature are the Campus Buzz areas. MyUlist.org now offers students a platform to interact with each other inter and intra campuses. Students can post their thoughts in a new discussion thread or place links to interesting websites. Other students can vote up or down on the thread or link by "Buzzing" it. Users may view buzz of their school or all schools. Recent Buzz topics range from romantic date dinner etiquette to a lively discussion among students who hate their majors.

Students who find themselves wondering about issues and intricacies of their school can post a question to be answered by others at their school. A student from Georgia Tech posted a question: “What should I buy for my boyfriend on Valentine’s Day?” The question was promptly answered by a student from UNC.

"We realized from the beginning that security of our members should be a major issue,” said DaveU. Members' email addresses are not displayed with all contacts being made securely through MyUList.org. Students must have a valid school email to post. Non-school emails may only post on For Sale, Housing, Services and Jobs areas.

MyUlist.org is now in beta testing and already generated buzz among college students. “This is a great idea! The site is very well thought out,” said Anderson, a freshman at Stanford University. A senior from Penn commented “If a lot of users are using myUlist, the site could be the next Facebook.”

Students can earn reward points by participating in many of the site's activities. Reward points may be redeemed for free gifts including iPod speaker Systems and mini radios.
