"This is the story of Rhythmic Gymnastics Dynasty and beautiful Olympic sport. Rhythmic Gymnastics is one of the very few bright spots in the history of Soviet Union. Founder of San Diego Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy, was involved in the creation and development of Rhythmic Gymnastics sports in former Soviet Union and Novosibirsk. She was the first couch and her sister was the first rhythmic gymnast," said Alla Zubkis.

Galina Aksutchits one of the founders of SDRGA said "Dear Friends, Colleges and Athletes from United States and Russia... I was honored to be involved in the creation and development of Rhythmic Gymnastics sports in former Soviet Union and Siberia. In the 1940's of the last century I was sent to Novosibirsk after graduating Moscow Government University of Physical Culture. During those years Soviet Government started very actively to promote this gorgeous sport in USSR. Novosibirsk was one of the leading cities involved in this sports creation. Rhythmic Gymnastics teams from Novosibirsk always took gold, silver or bronze medals in the most prestigious championships of USSR. Later my sister Valentina Baigoulova took over, where I left off. Her accomplishments were much more substantial... she coached and raised almost 100 Masters of Sports in Rhythmic Gymnastics. Many of her students were part of main Soviet Rhythmic Gymnastics Team. Unfortunately a serious illness and then death stopped her important work. Every year in her home town of Novosibirsk and sometimes in other cities in Russia, there is a Rhythmic Gymnastics competition to honor the memory of the great couch and great person Valentina Baigoulova, my little sister."
Galina Aksutchits continued "At this 2011 International 'Rising Stars Cup' we see a new generation of athletes and coaches. The head couch and a partner of San Diego Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy Alla Zubkis taking over where her mother Valentina Baigoulova left off. Elena Silaeva is the other head couch and a partner in San Diego Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy is also a student of my sister. And of course we have our youngest generation here. Two of the 170 participants are granddaughters of Valentina Baigoulova; Victoria Zubkis and Maxim Zubkis, they are also competing here in 2011 'Raising Stars Cup'. Therefore, life goes on. The thing that I started more than 65 years ago at the time when I was one of the first Rhythmic Gymnasts and then coaches in Soviet Union and my sister Valentina continued and put all of heart and soul into lives and shines here today during this 'Rising Stars Cup' event hosted and organized by San Diego Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy and Ocean Air Recreational Center... This event means so much to me. I want to thank all of you my col-legs and participants, who made this event possible. Also as a representative of older generation I want to congratulate all of the participants in this competition. I am really happy to see such a young and beautiful athletes here. Good luck in this, and in all of your future competitions."
