Polk Nursery Liquidation Offered at Higgenbotham Auction
Lakeland, FL, February 26, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Higgenbotham Auctioneers International (HAI) has been retained to liquidate Polk Nursery. HAI successfully auctioned the real estate in March 2010. The liquidation auction will take place at 10am, Friday, March 18 at 361 Denton Avenue, Auburndale, FL.
Mr. William Henry Schulz started this long-standing family business in 1916 just after he graduated from the University of Florida. Polk Nursery started out as a 58-acre fernery that produced asparagus fern for the northern market and eventually grew to become a 200-acre nursery. The William Schulz’s son, Ken Schulz, joined the company in 1945. The 2 gallon containerized California Rose bush was their most outstanding development, gaining them world acclaim. The scaling down of the nursery is talking place now, over 90 years since the company was first started.
