Two Mather LifeWays Senior Health Centers Receive 5-Star Rankings
U.S. News Media Group's 2011 Best Nursing Homes Lauds Sonora at Splendido and Mather Pavilion
Chicago, IL, February 26, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Sonora at Splendido in Tucson, Arizona, and Mather Pavilion in Evanston, Illinois, received the highest ranking of five stars overall in U.S. News & World Report’s 2011 Best Nursing Homes, available online at www.usnews.com/nursinghomes.
The rankings highlight communities across the nation that provide high-quality care and are a valuable tool for millions of older adults and their families in search of a nursing care residence.
U.S. News’s Best Nursing Homes profiles more than 15,000 communities and ranks them by state, using data and quality ratings from the federal government. The rankings are updated quarterly.
The rankings rely on information from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the federal agency that sets and enforces quality standards for all homes enrolled in Medicare or Medicaid. Homes receive an overall rating of one to five stars from the government based on the number of stars earned in three categories: health inspections, nurse staffing, and quality of care.
Nellie Sorrell, Administrator of Sonora at Splendido said, “We are so proud to have received the five-star ranking for the second consecutive year from US News Media Group. A large part of creating a great community is setting strong standards and providing staff with education and ongoing training.”
Norme Torres, Executive Director of Mather Pavilion said, “It is truly an honor to have received the five-star ranking from US News Media Group. We work with residents and their families to ensure they feel comfortable and secure at Mather Pavilion. It’s a pleasure to have our work recognized.”
“Choosing a nursing home for your parent or loved one is incredibly difficult,” says Avery Comarow, Health Rankings Editor at U.S. News & World Report. “Homes at the top of our rankings have repeatedly shown high quality and deserve consideration.”
Additionally, for a sixth consecutive year, Mather LifeWays is ranked number one among 144 Caring Communities affiliated senior living/long term care residences surveyed, nationwide, for safety/risk management practices. The ranking is based on outstanding results at The Mather and Mather Pavilion in Evanston, and Sonora at Splendido in Tucson, Arizona.
