“North Carolina has a large gender inequity in terms of political office holders,” said David McLennan, NCCWPS research director. “The eastern part of the state is a region with an even larger disparity between men and women in elected office. It is important that we hold this roundtable event to fill in the gap.”
Details:
- Throughout North Carolina, only 22 percent of all officeholders are women, while women make up 51 percent of the electorate.
- David McLennan, NCCWPS research director and professor of political science at Peace College, will be leading the presentation at the roundtable. As a founding member of NCCWPS, McLennan specializes in training women on the techniques and strategies used in political campaigns.
