Headliners Media is one of the pioneers of the Hip Hop DVD magazine movement and released its first DVD the summer 2003. Since then, releases hit the stands in music outlet stores, video stores and mom and pop stores as well as one-on-one distribution in the tri-state area.

Since the last Headliners DVD Magazine to hit the streets, the market has been flooded with similar styles of DVD magazines. A void has to be filled that will target the consciousness of the Hip Hop generation, hence, Headliners. Along with artist profiles, Headliners will cover a variety of topics and events affecting us as a people, particularly the Black and Brown community.  Each themed DVD will feature independent and mainstream artists with hard-hitting interviews; a look at contemporary issues affecting the Hip Hop generation and will highlight projects from the independent media sector.

The recent edition, “The Message” moves away from being a promotional DVD and uses editorial-style reporting to share the views of artists who are often pigeon-holed as non-thinking performers. Featured artists on “The Message” include Papoose (Streetsweepers Ent./Thug-A-Cation/ Flipmode) who directly responds to the latest shooting of Sean Bell by NYPD; La Bruja (De La Luz Records) responds to the impact of Latinos throughout the history of Hip Hop; Dr. Roxanne Shante speaks out on the self-esteem of women in Hip Hop; Hasan Salaam (5th Column Media) shares his story on being a Muslim Hip Hop artist in a post-9/11 world and Brand Nubians member Lord Jamar (Baby Grande) takes us to the world of the Five Percent Nation.  Other appearances include Amanda Diva, Immortal Technique, Krucial, Fight Klub and others.
As and added bonus, the magazine will also feature the new video release of Hasan Salaam’s “Prayer of a Sinner” and also features the HiCoup/Akir video of “Good Morning Ghetto.”
